Hart High School Art Classes
Art 1a/1b
This class is an introductory studio course for students at Hart High School. Over the course of this year, students will delve into the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design: how to recognize them in their environment and how to wield them in their art. Students will create a portfolio that encompasses a wide range of approaches to artistic expression. Students will learn how to use a variety of media including including (but not limited to) graphite, pen, colored pencil, watercolor, marker, acrylic, charcoal and mixed media.
2D Art A/B
This class is an intermediate studio course for students at Hart High School who have already taken Art 1a/1b. Over the course of this year, students will utilize the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design with more complexity and nuance. Students will create a portfolio that encompasses a wide range of approaches to artistic expression, with a focus on drawing and painting techniques. Students will study various artists and art movements from art history, as a form of inspiration and to help develop their own style. Students will further their skills in a variety of mediums including (but not limited to): graphite, pen, colored pencil, pastel, watercolor, marker, acrylic and charcoal.
